question:

Should the Federal Government discourage smoking?

answer:

Our federal government should not discourage smoking.  Smoking is a healthful process the discouragement of which, by the government, would be a gross undermining of local and state health departments.  Discouraging the smoking of meats would in the long term be detrimental to the farmers, producers, retailers, and consumers.

If the federal government stepped in and tried to discourage smoking there could be benefits.  Less land would be damaged due to a lower need for the wood used in smokers in turn causing less deforestation.  With less deforestation there would be more trees to help filter our air reducing the harmful effects of the pollution previously caused by smokers.  Less demand for exotic woods could also help reduce deforestation in South America preserving the habitats of protected animals like the Red Footed Tortoise.  Less tropical land cleared would also reduce the open space to grow crops used to produce drugs which fund terrorism.  On the home front a well planned campaign may lessen the quantity of backyard smokers reducing the annual number of house fires.

On the down side government input would cause market stagnation.  Producers with a lack of demand for quality smoked product would buy less raw meat.  Farmers raising animals for slaughter would get a lower price due to the now excessive supply.  Farm subsidies paid out from tax money would increase while the taxes collected to pay them would decrease.  The potential bankruptcies faced by the smaller producers like Hummel Bros. would bring buyouts by the big shots like Oscar Mayer who, being owned by the Altria Group - Kraft and Philip Morris, would be better leveraged to push their less healthful fried and processed meat products in a market becoming more of a monopoly.  Without competition the big shots can raise prices and turn large profits on lower quality less healthful products, ultimately hurting the consumer.

Although there may be some theoretical benefits to federal involvement in the discouragement of smoking the practicality of the situation precludes that from being the best option.  Some less direct discouragement would be more beneficial both to consumers and those who bring the product to market.  The introduction of alternative crops and free continued agricultural education for farmers might be a good start.  Reduce the supply causing an increase in quality, in demand and in the price per pound of finished product would be a worthwhile effort.  In parallel get news casters to explain better dieting to the public in simple terms anyone can understand.  The average person listens to and does whatever their favorite newscaster tells them to, after all if it’s on the news it must be correct.

I promised a few people I would get them a list of what I need to do their taxes,

"don't post personal info here"

If you worked in more than one state for the same company you really should have a copy of your W2,
If you cannot get it then we may be able to work from your last paystub of 2006

For those who tend to file late I can probably go to the next KoNY early but that will be after the 17th of april.

and yes I'm talking about United States income tax paid to the I R S

During the second week of March all loyal Sabbat gather together to perform the 'Festival of the Dead'. Nomadic packs also travel to the nearest domains to take part in the nights festivities. The purpose of the 'Festival' is quite simple and straight forward. Each Cainite is there to celebrate their immortality and revel in the fact that they are Vampires. The celebrations peak with an enormous Blood Feast and nightly Vaulderies taking place among and between the gathered packs.

Come join Kings of New York for our annual Festivo event! Food, fangs, fiends, and fun for all!

Sign in will begin at 6:30pm. Game will begin at 7pm and continue until 12:30pm.
(Send in those character sheets early to kony_stuff@yahoo.com to speed your way into game)
Admission for the event is $10.
Goodie bags full of fun stuff will be given at sign-in.
If you do not have a Sabbat Character that is in play, you can start one at the event. We will have starter PC sheet for you or Please Email new concepts and sheets.

We have tons of fun in store for you:
- a Skeleton Masquerade ball with costume contest
- a Scavenger Hunt
- a Sugar Skull competition
- a Duel, beginning with a Kendo demonstration by the local Kendo club, and then players IC can take each other on. So bring your foam sticks 'o' destruction to duel each other with.
- a fangsmith will be vending, so you can get your own set of prosthetic fangs for a very reasonable price.

Lots of prizes for the contests, too! Courtesy of such places as Chaosium, Cleopatra Records, Metropolitan Records, DC Comics, White Wolf, Hot Topic, Xbox360 etc...

Food! Rice & beans, Mexican Chicken, Fruit, Candy, Punch and much more will all be served - nobody goes away from a KoNY event hungry!

For those who stay for Sunday, there will be a 2:00pm walking tour of Yale/New Haven with a late lunch at the Ivy Noodle (and potentially catch part of the New Haven Saint Patrick's Day festivities - so this is a twofer, ladies and gents!). Anyone who would like to go will meet at the front of the hotel at about 2pm.

Any Questions can be sent to KONY_Stuff@yahoo.com - or find all your info in one place on KoNY's official website.

I survived an attempted poisoning today.

More details to follow.

Have to leave for other job soon.

Lesson for the attempted poisoners,
pick an odorless poison not a strong scented stainless steel cleaner.
You are going to loose your jobs over something stupid!

[edit]
It actually was a successful poisoning, just not very.
It was stainless steel cleaner, not bleach.

The taste on my lips did not go away till thursday evening.

But that is all the lawyer will allow me to say.

» been busy lately
I've been working a lot of hours in the last few weeks.
Wonder why I hate Christmas?

Preseason classes for H&R Block take up a lot of time.
Looks like I'll be at the Derby, CT Walmart this year
and probably the Orange, CT office a little also.
Might be a manager level position if my boss gets her way.
Donna is cool.

I've rewritten about 50 pages for sabbatnet.com (they're not online yet.)

the initial re-releases of GoTeddyWebsites.com, GoTeddyChristianWebsites.com, GoTeddyResellers.com are online.

GoTeddyWebsites.com & GoTeddyChristianWebsites.com Each offer free hosting with the purchase or transfer of a domain name, linux or windows. (looks like this GoTeddyWebsites.info) Not just free hosting but also; free quick blog, free 25meg Email, free domain forwarding/masking, free Change of registration, free Starter web page, free parking or "for sale" page, and lots of free software.

GoTeddyResellers.com - make some money and sell domain names and web hosting.

Full releases for GoTeddyWebsiteTemplates.com & UncleTeddysWebsiteTemplates.com are online.

I'm reworking the code for ProfileFreedom.com. This is a mySpace script site
I didn't write the original code, it is full of errors.
I need some ideas for steampunk stuff, and any backgrounds and stuff anyone wants.

The old Go-Teddy.com has had a slight facelift.

There are six others in the works either for myself or for others.
Including an SAT prep site, maybe.

I don't own goteddy.com.

more later.
